JMSCD6 Price GBP £12-50
JMSCD7 Price GBP £12-50
The harpsichord works of William Croft (1678-1727) remained unavailable in any reliable edition until Howard Ferguson and Christopher Hogwood edited them for Stainer & Bell in 1974. This edition was augmented in 1982 by two newly discovered suites (edited by Peter Holman). There are in total nineteen suites comprising 62 movements, a Trumpet Overture, and 19 miscellaneous short pieces. This first complete recording was made in April 1999. It was the last recording made by Julian Rhodes, who died in March 2001 at the tragically early age of 36.

Reviews
spirited performances of very engaging music.
Gramophone
Rhodes allies a fine technique - delightfully fresh articulation, tasteful ornaments - to shapely phrasing and lively, rhythmical dances. He uses three instruments: a spinet charmingly gentle; virginals rich and warm. There is also a two manual harpsichord which allows some clever registration.
Performance: ***** [Excellent]
Sound:**** [Very Good]
